I just need to know how much the Katzenjammer kids Christmas light covers would be worth. They were donated to Assistance League Thrift shop in the original box and never used.
I understand your question. Unfortunately items like this that are virtually "one-of-a-kind" don't have a specific value attached to them.

Here's a plastic set with similar graphics in nice, but used condition without the box. they sold for $36, after being on the market for almost four months.

Yours has a box and presumably less damage, so it should technically be worth more than whatever the other set eventually sells for, but you'd have to be able to get it in front of the right buyer. If your set looks like it might be much older, that might add value, too. But again, you'd have to find a buyer who knows what it is and doesn't already have one.

I'm copying your question to Fred Fox, a friend who runs Noel Kat, a vintage Christmas decoration store. He knows WAY more than I about 90% of this stuff, and he may have even seen these change hands before.

Fred Fox answered the reader's question more knowledgeably than I (as always)

Those were marketed by the Royal Electric Company @1936. It's a nice set with the original box for sure which ups the value however they are not as popular with collectors like say the Mickey Mouse set would be which was released during the same period. If you are looking to sell them on-line you may see around the 75.00 mark but I doubt you would get interest if you started them at that. It's tough to say for sure, the market has changed and it would most likely need to be those familiar with the characters who would have the greatest interest. Are you planning to sell them on-line or in a store setting? Sorry I can't be more specific.

Fred
