MIROSTAR PRODUCTS
The Mirostar Company of Paterson, New
Jersey offered the American public some rather unique decorative items
for their Yuletide decorating needs. The company's motto was "Artistry
in Lights". Below we present a selection of items typical of this
company's products.
Here is the company's 8 light
table top tree, resplendent with golden colored aluminum curls and
mesh. Despite its colorful contents, the box is a rather plain affair.
The tree is wired for candelabra base C-7 lamps. Although originally
equipped with the C-7 lamps shown here, many owners opted to increase
the "glitz factor" even more by substituting bubble lights. |

The miniature base C-6 lamp
version of the table top tree. this one is silver in color, and uses 9
of the C-6 lamps. |
|
A whopping two feet tall, this
wooden base three candle arrangement uses the intermediate base C-9
lamps, more often seen in use in outdoor lighting. The red bow at
the base is tied from the same mesh material used to wrap almost all of
the company's candles. |
|
Intended for use as a table top
centerpiece, this light spray is often used by collectors to show off
their Matchless Star lights. The spray originally came
with eight C-6 miniature base cone shaped lamps and star shaped
mirrored backings to add as much visual impact as possible. |

Here is a different version of the
Mirostar "spray" type centerpiece, this time with two candles in the
center. Kindly shared with us from the collection of Dennis Michael.
This particular version of the centerpiece is very hard to find. |

Sold in pairs, here is the left
half of a mantle candolier set, utilizing eight miniature base C-6
lamps. |

The 1960s
saw the popularity
of the "Pixie" style of Christmas decoration become wildly popular.
Along with various forms of tree toppers, clip-on elves and the like,
lighted Pixie heads were good sellers. This outfit, imported from Japan
in the mid-60s, is a typical example. There was a lighted set of
whole-bodied Pixies available as well. |
